Privacy policy

Last updated: September 23, 2026

Introduction

RampTracker is an independent project by Alejandro Palau. This policy explains how information is handled on the website and in the iOS and Android app. The information used depends on the features you use.

Information you provide

App accounts

Account information includes your email address for authentication, your display name, and an optional profile picture, which may come from Google or Apple Sign-In.

App content and preferences

This can include ramp status reports, closure reasons, comments, parking availability, optional photos, verification votes, and favorites.

Ramp reviews and moderation

Reviews include your account, author label, star rating, visit month, optional boat details and review text, and visit/rules confirmations. Moderation uses abuse reports, private author blocks, moderation decisions, and staff notes.

Private visit log

Visits you save to your account can include the ramp, date and time, activity, optional catch details, notes, and photos.

Trip plans

Plans saved to your account privately sync the ramp and its location, launch and optional return times, time zone, notes, and craft type across your devices when they connect. Device plans are added to an account only when you explicitly select them for import; signing in does not import them. Planning a trip does not create a recorded visit, public report, or review.

Website feedback

When you report a bug, suggest a feature, or submit a correction from the About page, the form sends your name, optional email, message category, message, and browser information through RampTracker’s email service so I can review and respond. Please do not include sensitive information or other people’s personal details.

How information is used

  • Enable sign-in and save your preferences and content.
  • Display ramp information and community reports.
  • Keep your private visit log and moderate public ramp reviews.
  • Display achievements and rankings in the app.
  • Send alerts when you enable notifications, using your device’s push notification token.
  • Review corrections, respond to messages, and diagnose technical problems.

Location and permissions

With your permission, location helps find nearby ramps. The app also checks that you are near a ramp when you submit a report. Camera or photo permissions are requested when you choose an optional profile photo or add photos to public reports or your private visit log. You can change location, photo, camera, and notification permissions in your device or browser settings.

Public content and private records

Your display name, reports, closure reasons, comments, and photos attached to reports may be visible to other users. Messages sent through the website feedback forms are not automatically published.

New and edited ramp reviews go through staff moderation before publication. Published reviews show the author label, rating, visit month, and any boat details or text you chose to include.

The private visit log introduced in app version 1.8 keeps your visits and their photos private to your account. Saving a visit does not publish a condition report or ramp review. Photos uploaded from earlier app versions may use public storage.

Moderation email alerts include ramp names, ratings, submission times, queue counts, and a link to the moderation screen. They do not include review text, author labels, or reporter identities.

When you report a correction to a public ramp page, the correction evidence and any optional reply email are stored privately for review and follow-up under this privacy and retention policy. They are not included on public pages or in analytics, and a submitted correction does not directly change ramp facts.

Analytics and technical information

The website uses analytics for visits and selected interactions to understand usage. The app uses PostHog for usage events, such as screens viewed and features used. These events may be linked to your account identifier; the app’s analytics integration does not send your name, email, or report text as event properties. You can opt out of app analytics in its privacy settings.

Analytics can also include device or app-installation identifiers and approximate location derived from the IP address. Diagnostics can include these identifiers, device type, operating system, app version, and error details. Services that host or deliver content receive technical request information, such as IP address and browser information.

Browser storage and external services

The website saves your language preference in browser local storage. Authentication flows may also use browser storage to maintain a session. You can clear site data in your browser settings.

Device plans, drafts, pending changes, reminder preferences, and saved starting points use ordinary local app storage. Account plans also have a local copy for offline use; their pending changes sync when connected. Drafts, reminder preferences, and starting points do not sync across devices.

RampTracker uses services including Supabase for data, authentication, private visit photos, and new public report photos; Cloudflare for hosting, assets, form protection, profile photos, and older public photos; Google and Apple for sign-in; Expo for notifications; and an email service for messages and moderation alerts. The website also loads fonts and a Buy Me a Coffee widget. Map, content, and external service providers receive information needed to handle your requests and apply their own privacy policies.

Retention and deletion

You can delete individual visits and their private photos, or your own ramp reviews, in the app. Account deletion removes your account, private visit records and photos, ramp reviews, synced trip plans, and their private sync records. Community condition reports may remain with the link to your account removed.

Condition reports stop counting as current when they expire. Stored reports may remain, while expired report photos may be removed automatically.

You can delete plans under More → Trip plans. Deleting an account plan removes its contents and propagates the deletion to your other devices when they reconnect. Minimal deletion and sync records remain until account deletion to prevent deleted plans from returning. Deleting a device plan removes it only from that device.

Confirmed account deletion also clears that account’s local copy, drafts, pending changes, and bound imports on this device. Unselected device plans remain. Offline devices may retain old reminders until reconnecting. Uninstalling the app may remove device plans and unsynced work; only server-confirmed plans can be recovered after signing in again.

Feedback messages and corrections are kept while being reviewed and deleted within 12 months after resolution, unless a legal obligation requires longer retention. Unresolved items are reviewed at least once a year to remove information that is no longer needed. You can request earlier deletion by contacting [email protected].

Your choices

  • View and update your profile in the app and request account deletion in its settings.
  • Delete your private visits, ramp reviews, account trip plans, and device plans in the app.
  • Change device permissions and opt out of app analytics.
  • Contact me to request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information.

Delete your account or data

In the app, open More, select Your account, and choose Delete Account on your profile. Follow the confirmation steps to request deletion.

You can also request deletion of your account or specific data without having the app installed. Email [email protected] from the address linked to your account and describe what you want deleted. Identity verification may be required. Do not send your password. The Retention and deletion section explains which data is removed and which reports may remain with the link to your account removed.

Advertising and voluntary support

I do not sell your personal information. RampTracker does not display third-party advertisements or share your data with advertising networks. Support through Buy Me a Coffee is optional; payments are handled through that service and its payment providers.

Children’s privacy

RampTracker is not intended for children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Please contact me if you believe a child has provided personal information.
